From the Hip Friday

Torero.

Today’s photo from the hip comes from my recent trip to Sevilla, Spain. My mom and I were enjoying our churros con chocolat across the street from this busker. I must say, his routine was a little lackluster. His friend played the accordion in an attempt to entice a few coins from a passerby. As soon as the coins clinked in the box, the matador waved his red muleta and… that’s about it.

Not much of a bullfight.

Water over roadway.

Today’s photo from the hip comes from Hoi An, Vietnam. This is actually one of my favorite from the hip photos. I like it so much that I was convinced I had already shared it. I did a little poking around and didn’t see it in my “FTH” folder so I decided to post it today. Apologies if it’s already been featured here!

One wet day in Hoi An the streets near the river were flooding. Of course, that didn’t cause the motorbikes to drive any slower. Even the rickshaws were going strong. I snapped a photo while we were walking by to help me remember the crazy roads. Driving in the rain will never phase me again.

At the top.

Today’s photo from the hip comes from the top of Burj Khalifa. Well, as far as the observation deck anyways. My sister visited me way back in 2011 while I was living in UAE. One night we decided to view the city of Dubai from up above. While we were taking photos I snapped a quick shot of us in the mirror. Can’t wait for my sister to visit me here in Marrakech.

Modes of transport.

Today’s photo from the hip comes from Marrakech, Morocco. I snapped this photo shortly after my arrival in the city. While walking in the Medina I started clicking away when I noticed the varying modes of transport. It’s not uncommon to see donkeys and horses heading down the road next to the motorbikes, beater taxis, and fancy town cars.

All part of the charm of living in Morocco.

The King(s) of Rock and Roll.

Today’s photo from the hip comes straight from good ol’ Las Vegas, Nevada. On our way home from Australia, Mike and I stopped by Vegas with a few friends. The people watching in that city is incredible. While stopped at a traffic light, not one but two Elvis tribute artists happened to stroll by. It doesn’t get much more Vegas than that.

I wonder if they give each other tips or fiercely guard their trade?

Sunset lake.

Today’s photo from the hip is another from Rebecca at The Rebecca Project. If you haven’t been keeping up, Rebecca has made the move from San Francisco to Chicago. What a big change! She took this shot from the hip while walking along Lake Michigan. The couple each had a little baby in a front carrier: twins! What a peaceful familial moment. I love how the rays of sun lead your eye from the left hand corner over to the happy couple. I almost don’t believe it’s from the hip!

Thanks, Rebecca! You can see Rebecca’s previous submissions here and here.
